Closure orders for two Radlett properties |
||
|
Two properties in Radlett have been ordered to close after police were called to reports of an affray. Officers were called to the alleyway between Orchard Close and Fairfield Close at around 1pm on Sunday (28 June), reporting an incident involving weapons. Nobody was injured and three people were later arrested. Two have since been charged. On Wednesday, the Hertsmere Neighbourhood Policing Team attended St Albans Magistrates' Court and successfully obtained two partial closure orders for properties in Orchard Close and Fairfield Close. It means that under the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014 nobody can enter the properties for three months, except the named tenant and authorised personnel such as the emergency services. The news comes during Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) Awareness Week 2026 – a national campaign highlighting the impact that ASB has and educating the public on how to report it. Police and the council have been out and about across Hertsmere this week, meeting residents and providing reassurance around tackling ASB. Inspector Rachael Robertson, who leads the Hertsmere Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “The safety of our communities remains our absolute priority. Following this serious incident, officers acted swiftly to identify and arrest those suspected to be involved, while also taking longer-term measures to protect those affected. "The partial closure orders granted by the court will help safeguard vulnerable occupants, prevent those linked to this offending from returning to the addresses, and provide reassurance to local residents. "As we continue to support and promote ASB Awareness Week, this action demonstrates our commitment to using all available powers to tackle anti-social behaviour, protect vulnerable people and ensure that Hertsmere remains a safe place to live, work and visit." Councillor Chris Gray, Portfolio Holder for Communities, Neighbourhoods, Enforcement and Economic Development, said: “Everyone deserves to feel safe in their own neighbourhood, and we know incidents like this can have a significant impact on local residents. These closure orders demonstrate how Hertsmere Borough Council and Hertfordshire Constabulary are working together to take swift and robust action where serious anti-social behaviour and criminal activity affect our communities. During Anti-Social Behaviour Awareness Week, this sends a clear message that we will use every available power to protect residents, support those affected and help keep Hertsmere a safe place to live, work and visit.” If you have information about the incident, you can report this online at herts.police.uk/report, speak to an operator in our Force Communications Room via our online web chat at herts.police.uk/contact or call the non-emergency number 101, quoting crime reference 41/60469/26. Alternatively, you can stay 100% anonymous by contacting the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or via their untraceable online form at crimestoppers-uk.org. | ||
